Most people know that "fiesta" means "party" in Spanish. Well, it means much more than that to the people of San Antonio.
FIESTA is an annual city celebration that began in 1891 in order to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo &
Battle of San Jacinto. It has grown into a 10 day event in April which now celebrates all the city's rich & diverse cultures with parades, fairs, rodeos,
NIOSA, carnivals, concerts, contests, pagents, houses decorated with colorful banners
(papel picado), floral hair wreathes, beads,
cascarones, vendors & more. Since both of Mike's parents were born & raised in San Antonio & with numerous extended family members who still live there, Fiesta is an ingrained family tradition that we have been able to continue with our boys. This weekend was Joshua's 1st Fiesta, Manuel's 2nd & my 4th.
