North Carolina or Bust

Last summer my parents retired and moved to Waxhaw, North Carolina, a small town south of Charlotte and very close to the South Carolina border. They bought a plot of wooded land on a street in an already developed neighborhood and built a beautiful house surrounded by tall trees.

We decided that Manuel & I would spend 2 weeks at my parents' house this summer. The first day of our trip one of my fears came true- a 4 hour layover in an airport with an almost 2 year old toddler and my lone pregnant self, equipped with one backpack and stroller. Our initial 1 hour layover was gradually extended 3 more hours due to plane maintenance issues. Note to self- try to avoid all American Airlines flights thru Dallas/FW- several flights I've taken thru there have been delayed. Manuel went 13 hours straight with no nap-somehow by the grace of God, lots of food & drink and pacifiers we survived, arriving exhausted.

My sister Rebekah flew in the same day as we did and then that Friday Mike & Anna joined us for a weekend family reunion. It was the 1st time all of us had been together since Thanksgiving.

Trip Highlights
*Manuel's morning wagon rides
*A morning picnic at Cane Creek Park
*A Baby Shower for our 2nd son hosted by my Mom
*Manuel experiencing my Dad's model train room
